About Rocking Cell RC5

Rocking Cell System RC5-Automated hydrate test system for inhibitor screening and compatibility testing. The Rocking Cell uses one of the most stringent condition of the currentlyaccepted methods for research on hydrate inhibitors and influence of corrosion inhibitors. The measuring principleof the rocking cell is based on the steady tilting of cooled, pressurised test cells (rocking cells).

While tilting, a ball inside the camber is steadily rolling over the length of the test chamber, thereby blending the fluid-gas mixture.
The movement of the ball creates strong shear forces and turbulences in the test chamber. Thus, the conditions in pipelines are reproduced.

For testing the test chambers are filled with a sample fluid (water or other) and a certain amount of inhibitor. The test chambers are cooled down to a given test temperature. Subsequently, the central gas supply is used, to fill each chamber to the individually required pressure of up to 200 bar (2,900 psi).The 5 test chambers are mounted on a movable axis in a closed cooling bath with cooling liquid. Only this axis is tilted during the test. This offers the advantage, that only the test chambers are moved but not the cooling bath itself.

The Rocking Cell is extendable up to 10 test chambers.
The test chambers are magnetically attached and can thus be easily removed for filling or cleaning.

The compact Rocking Cell requires only a small amount of space and is equipped with an integrated PC.

Features:

  • Turbulent mixing stringent conditions
  • Long lasting experiments upto 30 days
  • Variable test settings
  • 5 movable test chambers extended up to 10
  • Separately adjustable pressure upto 200bar
  • Esy filling & cleaning

Applications:

  • Examination of kinetic gas hydrate inhibitors(KHI)
  • Influence of corrosion inhibitors(CI)
  • Optimization of inhibitor concentration
  • Quality control
